PLN,ZSU CALLS FOR PUNISHMENT FOR RAPE ACCUSED
Both Poilwa Lui Nagaland (PLN) and Zeliangrong Students’ Union (Nagaland) have severely denounced Benjamin Terieng’s (33) brutal sexual assault of a daughter, age 26, in Ngwalwa village on September 8, 2023.
According to PLN Chairman Kochuiding and General Secretary Dr. Hedungkiebe, the nature of the harm done to the woman’s private parts and internal organs was consistent with an attempted murder, and every rational person should strongly condemn the crime. While praising the police for swiftly apprehending the offender, PLN advocated the imposition of harsh punishment in accordance with the law.
In the meantime, PLN expressed solidarity with the victim and stated that any attempt by an individual or society to have the offender released too soon or to have the severe matter downplayed would be seen as having conspired with the offender to encourage further instances of such horrific crimes.
In a press note, ZSUN said that the union condemned the “notorious act meted out to one of our sisters from our Peren district, who was physically assaulted and heartlessly raped.” Such act to an innocent individual must be publicly condemned by all sensible citizens and should be labelled as “a cowardice act”, the union stated.
Asserting that such heinous act was unacceptable in the society, ZSUN urged upon the concerned authority to award befitting punishment and deliver justice to the victim and the family.
The union demanded stern action as per the provision of law against such heinous crime.
