1. The Ceasefire Monitoring Group/Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFMG/CFSB) has issued a strong admonition to the NSCN-K (Khango) in light of allegations that the group has threatened a businessman in Nagaland with death.

Lt Gen (Retd) Amarjeet Singh Bedi, the chairman of the CFMG/CFSB, stated on Saturday that the group had breached the ceasefire ground rules (CFGR) by making this threat against the owner of KKB Rülhou.

Although the insurgent group has refuted the claims of issuing a death threat, asserting that it was a misunderstanding, the CFMG/CFSB has taken the allegations very seriously.

Bedi underscored that the ceasefire agreement with various Naga factions, including the NSCN-K (Khango), is intended to foster a favorable atmosphere for peace negotiations and to address the Naga issue. He made it clear that any infringement of the CFGR would be met with strict consequences.

He noted that specific support mechanisms, such as designated camps, ceasefire identity cards, and offices, have been established to assist with the administrative needs of the ceasefire and to ensure its effective implementation.

“These provisions are not designed to inconvenience the general public, nor do they grant any group immunity to engage in violations of the Ceasefire Ground Rules or unlawful activities,” Chairman Bedi clarified.

The CFMG/CFSB has commenced an investigation into the incident and has called upon the public to report any similar occurrences. The chairman assured that those found culpable would face legal repercussions.

The NSCN-K (Khango) has reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement and has pledged to resolve the matter in a peaceful manner.
