Govt of People's Republic of Nagalim press release by MIP

GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF NAGALIM
Ministry of Information and Publicity

PRESS STATEMENT
13th August, 2024

Nagalim is celebrating the August 14th as its Independence Day. We reaffirmed
our commitment for this national decision when Naga plebiscite was held on 16th
May, 1951; boycotted the Indian sponsored election two times and rejected the
Indian and the Myanmar(erstwhile Burma) constitution.

We celebrate Naga Independence Day signifying our rejection of India’s
independence of August 15, 1947. It is a symbol of our rejection of the colonial
rule over Nagalim. The celebration is Naga people’s political message that our
struggle for independence from the post-colonial powers shall continue, until
victory is won.

In the ongoing political negotiation with the Government of India (GoI) Nagalim
unique history and sovereignty have been officially recognized by the Amsterdam
Joint Communique of July 11, 2002 and the Framework Agreement of 3rd August,
2015. It is an official recognition and acknowledgement that the Indo-Naga issue
is a political conflict and Nagalim is never a part of India and Myanmar (erstwhile
Burma) as the case may be.
The NSCN/GPRN today send our revolutionary greetings to the Naga people,
wherever they are and to the other struggling nations as well and may this day of
Naga Independence Day be another historic day of celebrating freedom from the
colonial powers. We have taken strong exception given the fact that GoI has not
handled the Amsterdam Joint Communique of July 11, 2002 and the Framework
Agreement in the manner desired by the Naga people.
Nevertheless, NSCN/GPRN will leave no stone unturned to protect and defend the
unique history and sovereignty of Nagalim. We Nagas have had enough of being
betrayed time and again. It is high time for India and Myanmar to stop betraying
and colonizing Nagalim and conclude an honorable political agreement with NSCN
and the Nagalim.
MIP, NSCN/GPRN
